Fact sheet
About OMNEX — boilerplate
OMNEX CO., LTD. is a Japan-based food supply-chain development and business-coordination company. Built on more than 40 years of Japan–Vietnam trade, OMNEX connects overseas factories with buyers in Japan and worldwide — coordinating quality, pricing, logistics, and documentation on a performance-based model with zero upfront fees. Headquartered in Ehime, Japan, with a branch office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Founder
Mr. Nobuyoshi Kan
Founder
A pioneer of Japan–Vietnam trade for over four decades and founder of Sakura Food Co., Ltd., one of the earliest Japanese–Vietnamese seafood joint ventures. He is known for turning Vietnamese pangasius into a staple of the Japanese market and for pioneering agricultural-byproduct trade between the two countries.
Story angles
Real, ready-to-report threads:
Vietnamese oysters, built for the Japanese market
OMNEX helped coordinate the development and commercialization of Vietnamese oyster products for Japan — meeting demanding quality, food-safety, traceability and cold-chain requirements. Now across 8 container shipments and growing.
An ultra-thin sweet potato slice, engineered for Japan
For a special-spec ultra-thin IQF sweet potato slice, OMNEX coordinated the match to Japan's exacting requirements from the raw-material stage — soil, growing method and agricultural-chemical control — through factory setup and production. ~350 MT supplied and ongoing.
A pioneer who built a seafood factory in Vietnam — back in 1995
OMNEX's founder, Mr. Nobuyoshi Kan, established Sakura Food Co., Ltd. in Nha Trang on 21 September 1995 — a 100% Japanese-invested seafood-processing and export venture that grew to 300+ employees. As one of the first Japanese entrepreneurs to build a seafood factory in Vietnam, he set a template that still drives OMNEX's oyster and sweet-potato work three decades later.
Among the first to export Vietnamese rice paper
Mr. Kan was also involved in some of the earliest exports of Vietnamese rice paper (bánh tráng) to overseas markets — an early example of opening a new Vietnamese product category abroad.

The bigger picture
This project shows that Vietnam's export opportunity lies not only in raw-material or cost advantages.
